Throughout my training to become a professional mental health counselor, the wisest among my teachers stressed the importance of attending to my own personal growth through participation as a client in my own therapy process and also, by receiving supervision to help guide me in my professional life. From personal experience, I believe the best counselors are those who have a wide variety of tools in their therapeutic toolbox and can use these tools with ease, intelligence, and creativity.

For the last 25 years, I have cultivated the following therapeutic modalities:

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy, inclusive of techniques such as yoga, pranayama (breath), and meditation

  • Somatic Experiencing (Mind-Body Integration)

  • Solution-Focused Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

I have worked successfully with the following clients:

  • Individuals throughout all the life cycles (children, adolescents, adults, and elders)

  • Couples and Marriage Counseling

  • Individual, group, and corporate work focusing on mindfulness and stress reduction

Conditions and issues treated:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Family-of-origin and Relationship Issues

  • Trauma: PTSD and Developmental Trauma

  • Loss and Grief

  • Major Life Transitions

  • Life Cycle Transitions

  • Addiction (Drug, Alcohol, Gambling)

A Closer Look...

Following a rewarding career as a professional modern dancer in New York City, I received my Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW), with a clinical concentration from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Sciences, NY, NY. During this time, I completed one-year internships at Covenant House NYC, which provides mental health and concrete services to homeless adolescents and young adults, and the Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute, which emphasizes a spiritual approach to counseling and psychotherapy.

I completed a four-year training program at the Helix Institute for Healing and Psychotherapy and a one-year certificate program at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, both in Manhattan. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in PA and and a licensed master social worker (LMSW) in NY. In addition, I am a certified Kundalini Yoga and Meditation instructor.

I recently completed five years of employment working as a school-based mental health counselor in the Pennsylvania Student Assistance Program (SAP). During the course of this employment, I worked with students from grades K-12.

I have been working in the field of counseling for twenty-five years and in the field of yoga and meditation for three decades.
